David earned a Master’s degree in Counseling, Human Services, and Guidance from Montclair State University in January of 1998. He is currently a full-time certified public school counselor in New Jersey and celebrated thirty years in the counseling field in 2017. David started his counseling career at Bonnie Brae in 1987 as a child care worker and did not intend on remaining for more than one year. His intentions of leaving quickly faded as he experienced a fantastic group of administrators and co-workers that made it very difficult to leave; he remained a full time employee of Bonnie Brae until August 2005 and has continued part-time on and off ever since. David has been certified as a group psychotherapist with the International American Group Psychotherapy Association since 2004 and uses his experience and training in all aspects of his profession. He specializes in crisis intervention and prevention, and uses the Adventure Based Counseling model with adolescent groups. David is currently a Bonnie Brae per diem family therapist year round and a clinical/residential staff member during the summer months. He enjoys witnessing individuals and their family’s reach their goals and reclaim their stability and strengths. In his off time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and exploring New York City’s history. In 2012, David earned my first degree black belt in martial arts after setting the goal to obtain it before turning 50 years of age in 2013.
