Adrienne Ferri joined Bonnie Brae in the summer of 2023 as Director of Aftercare, following more than 10 years of experience working with families and adolescents at risk of out-of-home placement as well as those already living in Residential Treatment Center (RTC) and group home settings. Adrienne has worked in a variety of roles including as a clinical therapist, case manager, and program administrator, and understands the importance of using youth and family stories to inform service delivery.
Adrienne sees residential Aftercare as the first step in breaking cycles of trauma, and first became passionate about this concept in 2012 while working first as a case manager and later as a clinician in a home-based Aftercare and Prevention program in New York. Adrienne saw that the families she worked with were doing the best they possibly could with the resources they had available to them, and that they all wanted the opportunity to heal and grow. After serving in the Peace Corps in 2013-15, Adrienne went on to continue her work in a community-based program serving youth in foster care. She transitioned from her role as a provider to building a new program that served RTC-youth and their siblings. Adrienne’s prior work directly in the homes and communities where youth and family reside has shaped her understanding that youth and families should be directly involved in decisions about treatment and services, and has taught her about the types of supports that can make a positive difference for youth and families long-term.
Adrienne earned her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University at Buffalo School of Social Work, as well as her Master of Public Administration (MPA) with a concentration in Nonprofit Management from the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and hopes to one day work herself out of a job by finding solutions for systems-level issues like mental health imparity, institutional racism, poverty, and stigma. Adrienne lives in New Jersey with her husband, daughter, and dog from Costa Rica. In her spare time, she enjoys camping, hiking, and visiting the ocean.
