One of the things that makes Bonnie Brae so unique is our strengths-based approach to treatment. Youth who have experienced multiple failures prior to coming to Bonnie Brae have the chance to discover and develop new interests. Youth who never picked up a ball before play basketball, tennis, softball, flag-football and more. They learn what it means to be on a team, and how to resolve conflict in a healthy manner.
Youth discover music and can play in our Knights Drum Corps, travelling and marching in many different special events in the tri-state area. They can learn to express themselves through art, poetry, photography and creative writing.
Youth can learn work skills building homes with Habitat for Humanity, being a member of our on-grounds work crew, or volunteering at Liberty Science Center.
All these experiences help our youth learn to take risks, learn coping strategies and interpersonal skills, gain confidence, experience personal sacrifice, and give back to their communities in a positive way.
