Discussing Racism With Youth With Disabilities

IIC, News
Posted on October 28, 2020
by Maria Abada
On Monday, October 26, 2020, Bonnie Brae presented a lecture, "Discussing Racism with Your Kids" in partnership with ASAH. ASAH is a non- profit organization of private schools and agencies in New Jersey that provides highly specialized services to more than 10,000 infants, children and young adults with disabilities. Founded in 1974, ASAH now serves 129 schools and agencies throughout the state. Bonnie Brae is proud to collaborate with them as part of their speaking bureau to conduct psychoeducational workshops for their families. Addressing racism and social inequity with children can be difficult for any caregiver. In this workshop, our IIC manager, Maria Abada, LPC, explained racism and  provided parents with tools and resources for addressing racism with their youth. Disappointed that you missed the lecture? Don't worry - ASAH has provided a recording of the lecture as part of their Virtual Conference 2020-2021 series. You can access the recording here.
