Do you enjoy attending Broadway shows? Through Bonnie Brae’s Matinee Theatre Group, you can enjoy five Broadway shows and feel good about doing so, as a portion of the cost goes toward helping the boys and programs of Bonnie Brae. The proceeds of the ticket price enable Bonnie Brae to improve the quality of care for our residents.
The Matinee Theatre Group is an auxiliary group founded in 1956 by Mrs. Ruth Carrey and then continued for many years by Mrs. Flora Hewett. With your Broadway ticket purchase, you will also receive complimentary round-trip transportation to and from the theatre from one of five different locations including: Basking Ridge Country Club; Canoe Brook Country Club; Essex Fells Country Club; Glen Ridge Country Club; and Upper Montclair Country Club. Additionally, if you have a group of 25 or more interested in attending from a different location, we are more than happy to provide a bus from a new location.
While it’s too early to know what we will be seeing this fall, we are considering the following shows for the upcoming season: Anastasia; Bandstand; Escape to Margaritaville; Roman Holiday; and My Fair Lady. If you are interested in attending, the dates we will be purchasing tickets for are as follows:
Wednesday, October 18th, 2017
Wednesday, November 15th, 2017
Wednesday, February 21st, 2018
Wednesday, March 21st, 2018
Wednesday, April 18th, 2018
The Matinee Theatre Group has been a cornerstone of support for over 50 years. It has helped to give generations of young men hope for their futures. We have a bold vision to transform even more lives of youth and families in our second century of service, and your membership in the group will help to provide for this.
Your participation in this program has a direct impact on the boys and young men we serve. Many of the Bonnie Brae students come to us abused, abandoned, and neglected, and leave with the strength and the confidence to pursue their dreams. As stated recently by an alumnus:
“When admitted to Bonnie Brae, I was not seen as a troublemaker but as a young man with potential if given the right time with therapeutic resources. At Bonnie Brae, I learned key life skills such as communications, team building, and conflict resolution that have helped me to succeed as a parent and a community leader. They gave me a work ethic and taught me how to be a positive contributor to a team. For the first time ever, I felt like I belonged. I now know how to pick myself up after failure and to accept and manage success.”
We are wrapping up the 2016-2017 season, however, we are currently accepting registrations for 2017-2018.
Accredited by the Joint Commission, Bonnie Brae is one of the nation’s preeminent residential treatment centers for at-risk adolescent boys who have been neglected, abused, or abandoned. We provide a safe place for boys and young men in crisis, ages 8-21, a place for them to heal, to learn and to grow. We have helped over 10,000 boys and families since our founding in 1916. Please contact us today to learn how you can make a positive difference in a young man’s life.
