September is suicide awareness month. While suicide is rare in young children, the rates for suicide increase as children enter adolescence. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suicide is the third-leading cause of death for 15- to 24-year-olds, behind accidents and homicide. Parents and caregivers can play an important role in helping build their teen's mental health. In this workshop, caregivers will learn the risks of teen suicide, as well as ways to help prevent it. This workshop is part of the "Ask a Therapist" series presented by Bonnie Brae in partnership with the Family Support Organization of Middlesex.
