BONNIE BRAE POLO CLASSIC 2006 SLATED FOR JUNE 10TH
Sponsorship and Prime Tailgating Reservations Available Now
Looking for an opportunity to spend a lovely day in the country, tailgating with friends and enjoying an elegant equestrian sport and entertainment – all for the benefit of a worthy cause? Following in the hoofprints of previous successful benefit polo matches, Fieldview Farm -- home of the Far Hills Polo Club in Hunterdon County’s Pittstown, NJ -- will be the location of the seventh annual Bonnie Brae Polo Classic on Saturday, June 10, 2006.
(weather or field condition date –June 11)
The event – presented by Chugai Pharma USA, LLC -- is being held to help raise funds and increase awareness for Bonnie Brae, a private, nonprofit accredited residential treatment and special education center serving emotionally disturbed boys, ages 11-18. Now in its ninth decade of operation, Bonnie Brae -- located on 100 acres of land in Bernards Township, NJ -- has instrumentally helped and changed the lives of more than 4,500 young men. The agency provides a safe, supportive and therapeutic environment where troubled boys can develop trust, maximize personal and social potential, and build lives as good citizens -- productive in their communities and families.
Last year, the Bonnie Brae Polo Classic drew more than 3,000 spectators. This year, officials expect even more guests to watch the high goal professional caliber Chugai Pharma USA, LLC Team defend its title against the Prestige Wealth Management Group Team. This entertainment spectacle, designed and produced by Hemisphere Productions Events, is unlike any other in the tri-state area. Its growing popularity has reached milestones in maturity in just seven years. It is already positioned as a recognized annual event “One of the topthree events in New Jersey” with an extraordinary return attendance rate from sponsors and spectators alike. The farm offers a stunning backdrop for a spirited game of polo and a day of lavish tailgating. Many of the ladies dress in flowing dresses and large-brimmed adorned hats and compete in the Best Hat Competition; gents look dapper, recalling the elegance of another era. Located directly off Route 78 at exit 15, the farm features 150 acres of lush green pastures surrounded by stately trees, a picturesque garden nursery and sprawling equestrian properties.
Gates will open at noon for tailgating, and pre-match activities start at 1:00 p.m. The polo match will begin at 2:00 p.m. following opening ceremonies, featuring the Champion Bagpipe and Drum Corps, a classic car parade, the Bonnie Brae Knights Precision Drum Corp, and the Morris County Park Mounted Police presentation of the flag and the national anthem. Highlighting the intermission will be the traditional divot stomp, a demonstration by the Tewksbury Foot Bassets, and the tailgate awards presentations. A raffle drawing for a fabulous trip to the destination of the recipient’s choice will be drawn at the end of the match which ends at approximately 5:00 p.m., followed by an awards ceremony and a champagne toast to the teams.
OME Caterers will host a VIP Champagne Tent for South Side Sponsors and Patrons. New thisyear will be a Martini Tent for the North Field Side Tailgate Patrons. Food and beverage will be available for attendees to purchase on sight if they are not tailgating, or guests may also bring their own picnic baskets if they wish. Other novelty vendors will include an equestrian art exhibit and awards tent, a classic motorcars display, and shops with Polo Chapeaux, Argentinean Leather bags, jewelry, and Equestrian themed items.
A distinguished panel of judges, including George Marriner Maull, Music Director and Conductor of the Philharmonic Orchestra of New Jersey, Chris Cree, Master of Wine and owner of 56 Degree Wine, Regan Hofmann, Executive Editor of New Jersey Life Magazine, and Paul Ingenito, Executive Chef and owner of The Perryville Inn and The Grand Colonial Restaurants will award prizes for creative tailgate parties in a variety of categories: Most Original Theme, Most Elegant Tailgate, Best Corporate Design, Best Hat Worn at the Event, and Most Outstanding Gourmet Presentation. Be sure to see the amazing spectacle of theme tailgates that are distinguishing this event from others, and putting it in a class by itself for spectator entertainment.
Prior to May 10th, tailgaters may order food from OME Caterers of Whippany, as well as spirits from Raritan Liquors in Bernardsville. Both will deliver food and beverages directly to tailgate slots.
