The Sound of Music
posted 3/18/2005 09:51:00 AM | archive

LIBERTY CORNER, NJ, March 18, 2005 - Thanks to a very generous grant of $5,000 from the Fred C. Rummel Foundation, a new music program has filled the Bonnie Brae campus literally with the “sound of music.” A newly formed drum corps, the Bonnie Brae Knights, has been equipped with new drums, drum sticks, and color coordinated uniforms.

To date, the Knights have performed at both the Bernards Township Holiday Parade and Bonnie Brae’s own formal Tartan Ball. These performances were warmly received by Bonnie Brae supporters and members of the surrounding community.

On April 7th, the Bonnie Brae Knights will perform the pre-game show at the Continental Arena before the New Jersey Nets vs. New York Knicks basketball game. The success of the Knights and the Bonnie Brae music program is directly related to the on-going support of the Fred C. Rummel Foundation.

In the past, the Fred C. Rummel Foundation has provided funding for a much needed improvement of Bonnie Brae’s kitchen facilities. The Fred C. Rummel Foundation supports non-profit human service, health care, and educational organizations throughout New Jersey through competitive grants awarded semiannually. The Foundation is located at 316 Lenox Avenue, Ste 2C, Westfield, New Jersey. For more information, please call Annmarie Puleio, Executive Director, 908-317-8600.

Bonnie Brae is a private, nonprofit, JCAHO accredited residential treatment center and special education school founded in 1916 and located in Bernards Township, New Jersey. The 100-acre campus is currently home to 80 residents, age 11 to 18. Most of these children have been referred by the Division of Youth and Family Services and arrive at Bonnie Brae after an average of eight out-of-home placements including juvenile shelters, foster homes and psychiatric hospitals.

Bonnie Brae helps these children and youth to reclaim their full life potential and return to their homes, communities and society as independent, self-sufficient and productive citizens. For more information, visit our web site at www.bonnie-brae.org or call 908-647-0800.
