Pay It Forward

Charles Merton and Jim Murray were once boys at Bonnie Brae and have since both become successful men. They wanted to fulfill the boys dreams at Bonnie Brae by presenting a check in order for them to take a trip to Canada, because many of them have never been on a vacation. Bonnie Brae every year brings all the boys to Canada for 5 days.
The boys, age 11 through 18 work hard in the community visiting senior citizens, work at a food bank, help clean and plant flowers at the Humane Society and so much more.

Charles Merton and Jim Murray presented the check on July 9, 2002 at 11:00 am in the Graves Conference Room at Bonnie Brae. Their contribution was on the terms that the boys would need to write a letter to the alumni to inform them of what have they done for the community. Each boy did their part to help their community.
Bonnie Brae, accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), is a nonprofit residential treatment and special education center for troubled New Jersey boys, many of whom have been neglected, abused or abandoned. For more than 86 years, we have served disadvantaged and needy adolescent males who have exhausted the resources of their families, schools and communities. Bonnie Brae models and provides a safe, supportive, educational and therapeutic environment for youth whose needs cannot be met by their families, schools and communities.
